One of our most popular sets, this is a high-quality, black & ivory, weighted plastic set, ideal for tournament play or to keep at home. It has a 4-inch King, four queens and weighs in at a hefty 44 ounces!
This set plays best on a board with 2-3/8" squares (board not included).

Best Plastic Set Around
Comments :
This is without a doubt the best plastic set around. It is heavily weighted and has a nice feel. The pieces have an attractive finish (not shiny). The set gives the impression of being a much more expensive set than it is. It is one of the few sets that I enjoy playing with at home and is sturdy (unbreakable) enough for tournament play. This is the perfect chess set, and the best value anywhere.

This is the best plastic tournament set I've ever owned in this price range. It is much heavier than even your salesman described! The design is authentically antique Staunton. The white pieces are opaque, not translucent or milky. The pieces are beautiful and angular, and are weighty and nicely balanced. All the pieces are well-proportioned, tall and elegant. The knights, while large, are not out of scale with the other pieces. One of the best surprises, though was the design of the tall, elegant pawns. In an age where most sets have squatty, fat pawns, these stand tall and proud! Their size complements perfectly the stately king and queen. I would have given this set a 5, but I was disappointed by the cheap paper-thin felt on the bases. What a shame to skimp on such an inexpensive material! I went to the store and for just one dollar, I bought some self-stick sheet felt, and spent two hours re-felting each chess piece one by one. But it was worth it! When I was done, I had a great new set that rivals any of the best tournament sets I own--some of which cost three times as much! Thank you for adding this beautifully designed set to your catalog. I understand that it is made by the same manufacturer who makes the Club Special set. Get this one instead--it plays beautifully on both 2 1/4" and 2 3/8" square boards. It just looks and plays better! (It might just improve your game!)

I am extremely pleased with this quality set at such a low price. The pieces are large with the King standing 4" tall. The members of my chess club were impressed with the large pieces on the oversize board and the extra queens that will come in handy.

Excellent set for the money. Looks and feels great. Weighted sufficiently. Only draw back was a piece of missing felt I replaced on my own.

Nice set for the money but the quality control in China is lacking. Both of the white Queens were broken and one of the black Knights had no felt. This problem was taken care of but it should not have happend in the first place. We should bring the jobs home where they belong.
