by Mikhail Botvinnik, 464pp. (Moravian Chess, 2001)

Botvinnik's famous game collection, translated and edited by Ken Neat.

This third installment deals with the last fourteen years of Botvinnik’s chess career: 1957-1970. There are about fifteen pages of autobiographical narrative, followed by annotated games, 142 in all, 130 from high-level matches and tournaments, including his matches with Smyslov (twice), Tal (twice) and Petrosian, plus an appendix of twelve training games played at various times from 1936 to 1961. The games are followed by thirty pages of crosstables and tournament/match results, an appendix of translator’s notes and analytical corrections, and a index of openings. Twenty-four pages of black-and-white photos are also included.
