A Complete Repertoire for White
by Jesus de la Villa Garcia, 336pp. (New In Chess, 2009)
The Sicilian Defence is the most widely played chess opening, both at club level and among top grandmasters. Since Black gets dynamic play in almost all variations, black players of all levels will probably continue to play the Sicilian for a long time to come.
It has been difficult for White to obtain any advantage in Sicilian sidelines, and this book therefore presents a complete repertoire for White in the most widely played main lines: the Open Sicilians with 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3. All of Black’s possible answers are covered.
Dismantling the Sicilian is clearly organized, and each variation is presented with its history, its main ideas, its typical tactics and strategies, and with instructive games. Jesus de la Villa thoroughly explains the relevant themes and always summarizes the most important features.

Arne Moll, ChessVibes:
"A total knockout (..) Somehow, Jesus de la Villa succeeds in explaining opening systems which have always seemed completely random to me, in a straightforward and simple way so that I can really imagine myself playing these lines with some confidence (..) If you're going to buy one opening book this fall, make sure it's this one. You won't regret it."
British Chess Magazine:
"There is a great deal of theoretical ground to cover but this the author does in a systematic and comprehensible way. In fact, it would also constitute a good general grounding in the main variations of the Sicilian for anyone who was thinking of taking it up as Black."
Europa Rochade:
"The illustrative games are being presented with a complete set of strategic and tactcial ideas (..) The author indicates the importance of each variation by giving it 1 to 5 stars. The very good presentation of the book confirms the professionality of the publisher."
