Grandmaster Tony Kosten concentrates on aggressive treatments of the English - an approach that has brought him great success in tournament play. His book provides everything you need to start attacking with the English Opening, supplying players of the white pieces with a set of weapons that will equip them to challenge any opponent they face. There is an ideal balance of explanation and analysis, and practical examples illustrate the key themes.

This is an excellent book for those intrepid souls whose hearts flutter for 1.c4, 2.g3, and 3.Bg2 (you know who you are...). Although it is decidedly biased in favor of White, it's still a very good book, covering the major lines and some minor ones. My only beef with the book is that it is not comprehensive enough, and it may be time for a new edition. But for whatever it's worth, this B-player, who played just that line for years, heartily recommends this book.

This is the best chess book I have ever owned and I own quite a few. It features clear writing and concentrates on typical ideas and plans. The recommended lines are not only sound but fun to play.
