Amazing from start to finish. It would be amazing if it had an update that included game numbers per opening, but study of all of the games is entirely unparalelled. |

Without a doubt, one of the best chessbooks ever written! I've been around for a VERY long time, and I've seen some good books, and some not-so-good books. This is one of the BEST. Bronstein's passion for the game comes through in just about every page; only a little bit of the analysis has been "refuted" over the years, and at any price, this book is a bargain. My only "issue" is the font they used (which may have been one of the only ones available at the time he book was printed). I have it and wore it out... |

This is the book for who want upgrade rating. In this fine book Bronstein teaches a lot of principles, of openings, middle-game, and end game. If you need to upgrade your skill, you need this book. Good luck. |

Bronstein is an exceptionally enthuastic writer. I don't know if a persons rating can improve by reading this kind of book, but the games and the annotations, which are more words than moves, make it a very entertaining read. |

I do not know how the previous poster can say that he doesn't know if someone's rating can improve by reading this book. I use this book to instruct my students, and within a year of studying this book, they will often gain 400-500 (often to USCF 2000+) points by using this book as their main tool. |
