The Application of Chess Theory

A great book! I have the original 1984 version by Pergamon Press, but I assume this is a reprint. Geller played many of the same openings and variations that I play, so it was especially useful for me. But beyond that, Geller gives each game a short title, an introduction (sometimes about the opponent or the importance of the game, or something about the opening), and then the game with light, but perceptive notes that don''t bog down the replaying of the game. The book is split into two parts: the first has the games grouped by opening, the second has the games grouped by the world champion against which they were played. It is a thouroughly enjoyable and educational book. Highly recommended!
